The Gueydan Duck Festival Dog Trials portrays the bond of Man and his best friend during their finest moments that demonstrate the love and respect they have for each other. The Dog Trials have been hosted by the Cajun Hunting Retriever Club, www.cajunhrc.com, out of Crowley, Louisiana for over 20 years. These trials are held every year on the Saturday of the Festival, which is always the weekend in August before Labor Day weekend. Registration is that morning at 8 AM, there is no preregistration. Three divisions are offered, Starter Division, Seasoned Division and Finished Division. Cost is $20 per Retriever per Division. Each Retriever will only be allowed to compete in one Division that is determined by their experience. Starter Division is for beginners, both Retriever and Handler. This Division is usually for a Handler to see how well the Retriever and Handler work in unity. The Seasoned Division is for the avid hunter and retriever that already have a mutual bond and understanding of each other. The Finished Division speaks for itself. These teams of two intelligent creatures knowing each other for so long, they already know what the other is thinking. The 1st and 2nd place of this Division is usually decided by 1/10th of a point. These trials are family oriented for all ages to watch and participate. Directional signs are posted at all entrances and throughout the City of Gueydan that will lead you directly to the free parking area. Food, water and soft drinks are sold at this trial. If you decide to bring your own refreshment, PLEASE, NO GLASS CONTAINERS ALLOWED! If any other information is needed please contact the Chairman below and we hope to see you there!
